Meat-alternative company tripling its production capacity

Beyond Meat, the latest in plant-based protein products, is growing its production capacity.  The company recently announced it would be adding a new facility in Columbia, Missouri to help meet the increase in demand for their products.

Texas A&M livestock economist David Anderson says meat-alternatives, like Beyond Meat, create additional competition for grill space and can ultimately pressure beef prices lower.  “With an alternative choice that can be cheaper, I think we always ought to be concerned about those types of things,” he says.  “As another competitor for beef in the marketplace.”

The new facility will triple Beyond Meat’s production capacity.
