If direct payments go away, what will conservation compliance link to?
The Farm Bill is the big topic of discussion at American Farmland Trust. Jeremy Peters says there are a number of items in the bill pertaining to conservation including conservation compliance. Since 1996, compliance has been tied to Direct and Countercyclical Payments (DCP), all indications are those payments will not be included in the next farm bill so AFT would like to see a return to compliance linked to crop insurance.
