Crop progress ahead of average

Programs ICONU.S. soybean planting and emergence continues ahead of average, the bean and corn crops are in very good condition.

As of Sunday, 96 percent of soybeans are planted, compared to the five year average of 93 percent, and 89 percent have emerged, compared to 84 percent on average. Condition dropped a point to 73 percent good to excellent.

U.S. corn condition remains steady at 75 percent good to excellent.

A quarter of winter wheat is harvested, catching up to the five year average of 28 percent for this time of year.  Winter wheat condition remained steady for the past week at 61 percent good to excellent.

Seventy-six percent of spring wheat is in good to excellent shape, down 3% from a week ago.  Twenty-eight percent of the crop has headed, almost double the five year average.

Sixty-four percent of U.S. pastures and rangelands are rated good to excellent, down two percent from the week before.
