Indiana Senator Joe Donnelly says time is running out for Congress to come up with a solution to prevent state-by-state GMO labeling laws from going into effect.

He tells Brownfield if there are 50 different states with 50 different labeling requirements – the system could become unworkable.   “If you are an ice cream manufacturer and you have 30 flavors all of the sudden you look up and you have 1,500 different packages that you have to put together,” he says.  “What we’re trying to do is be a moderate, common sense voice in this discussion trying to bring together Republicans and Democrats so we can find a solution.”

But is a solution possible?  Donnelly says he hopes so. “We’re going to find out in the next month,” he says.
