Near-perfect weather across the Corn Belt

On the Plains, wet snow is blanketing portions of northern and western Montana. Meanwhile, rain showers stretch southward from the Dakotas into Kansas. However, dry weather prevails across the southern Plains in advance of an approaching storm system.

Across the Corn Belt, mild, dry weather favors an acceleration of fieldwork, including early-season corn planting. However, wet soils continue to hamper fieldwork in portions of the Great Lakes region.

In the South, frost was noted Friday morning as far south as portions of Virginia. Meanwhile, clouds and scattered showers linger from the Mississippi Delta to the southern Atlantic Coast. In the western Gulf Coast region, dry weather favors fieldwork, including rice and cotton planting.

In the West, dry weather in the Pacific Coast States favors spring fieldwork. Meanwhile, cool weather accompanies scattered rain and snow showers across the northern Rockies and the Intermountain West.
