ADM starts expansion of Santos grain terminal in Brazil

port-export terminalExpansion and modernization of an Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) export terminal in Brazil is underway.  The expansion will increase the facility’s storage and grain handling capacity to 8 million metric tons.

Greg Morris, president of ADM’s oilseed processing business says the Port of Santos is one of two major ADM gateways from Brazil to customers around the world.  He says the expansion will enhance the company’s ability to move crops to customers in Asia, Africa, and Europe.

ADM is also increasing the capacity of its jointly owned export terminal in Barcarena.  The company says once both expansions are complete it will be able to move more crops out of Brazil more efficiently.

The upgrades also include installing new technologies to help minimize particulate emissions.

The expansion to the Port of Santos is scheduled for completion in mid-2017.
