The USDA says Minnesota ranks first among all 50 states in sweet corn production at 760,000 tons, more than 30 percent of the U.S. total.

The 2015 major processed vegetables report says Minnesota’s green pea production climbed 44 percent from 2014 to 112,000 tons, placing the state second in that category.

Overall, Minnesota remained in third place nationally for processed vegetable acres harvested, but fell to fourth place in total production and value of production.

California continues to lead the nation in those three categories and accounted for 75 percent of total production in 2015.
