2016 Iowa Pork Queen aspires to return to the farm
Holly Cook of Winthrop, Iowa, is the 2016 Iowa Pork Queen, crowned this week at the Iowa Pork Congress. She tells Brownfield that she looks forward to representing Iowa pork producers in the next year.
“I would like to reach as many people as possible to answer their questions and talk to them about anything they want to know about pork, and to promote pork to them,” Miss Cook told Brownfield Ag News at the Iowa Pork Congress.
Cook plans to major in agricultural business at Iowa State University in the fall and has a longer-term plan to stay close to agriculture.
“For career goals, I really am looking to return to the farm eventually,” she said.
The Iowa Pork Producers Association named two runners-up, Olivia Bisbee of Stacyville and Ashley Smaby of Klemme, as Iowa Premier Pork Youth Ambassadors.
The three will represent Iowa pork producers this year at promotional events.
