Snow overspreads parts of the Corn Belt

Across the Corn Belt, snow is developing across northern Nebraska, southern South Dakota, and western Iowa. Elsewhere, dry weather favors a limited return to late-season fieldwork, following recent rainfall.

On the Plains, a snow storm is underway across parts of eastern Wyoming, northern Nebraska, and southern South Dakota. Meanwhile, Friday morning’s temperatures fell below 10° at several locations in North Dakota. In contrast, warm, dry weather favors cotton harvesting and other late-season fieldwork on the southern Plains.

In the South, lingering showers are confined to southern Florida. Mild, dry weather covers the remainder of the South, but fields remain too wet in some areas to resume winter wheat planting, cotton and peanut harvesting, and other late-autumn fieldwork.

In the West, dry weather prevails, except for a few rain and snow showers in the northern Intermountain region. Chilly conditions in the Northwest contrast with warmth from California to the southern Rockies.
