Agricultural Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs)

Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs) have been around for decades offering investors a chance to buy land without actually taking title. Patterned after mutual funds, REITs offer income streams, diversification and long-term capital appreciation for investors.  Historically REITs own apartments, hospitals, commercial real estate and even timberland. More recently REITs have been getting into agricultural land. Tommy Funk is president of U.S. Farm Trust which is an institutional REIT.
