U.S. soybean rating improves, corn holds

The USDA reports U.S. corn and soybeans continue to develop close to normal, with condition ratings unchanged to slightly higher.

As of Sunday, 90% of corn is silking, compared to the five year average of 89%, and 29% is at the dough making stage, compared to 31% on average. 70% of U.S. corn is in good to excellent condition, steady with last week and with 1% moving from good to excellent.

81% of soybeans are blooming, compared to the usual pace of 83%, and 54% is at the pod setting stage, compared to 49%. 63% of soybeans are rated good to excellent, up 1% from a week ago.

93% of winter wheat is harvested, 8% faster than normal, with 7 of the 18 top production states officially wrapped up.

8% of spring wheat is harvested, compared to 11% on average, and 70% is in good to excellent condition, down 1% on the week.

58% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are called good to excellent, down 3% from last week.
