Students and teachers of agriculture will be in the spotlight at the upcoming Missouri State Fair in August.

Fair Director Mark Wolfe tells Brownfield there will be demonstrations put on by 4-H and FFA students, “It gives them an opportunity to tell the world, you know, what they’re doing, how they do it. It really focuses on the education side. And, hopefully, some of our more urban folks will have an opportunity to pick up on some of that. Maybe some of those kids – it’ll put a fire under them to get involved with one of those two organizations.” There are demos planned for sheep, swine, poultry, rabbits, horses and goats.

And, Wolfe, says the 2015 fair will honor agriculture teachers and advisors, “Probably a lot of times unsung heroes. You know, people don’t really realize the time and effort that goes into working with these kids. It’s not just during the class, during the day. They’re at these kids’ farms in the evenings, on the weekends and working with them.”

There will also be a permanent exhibit to honor award-winning farm families. The theme of the 2015 Missouri State Fair is “Show-Offs Welcome.” It runs from August 13th through 23rd in Sedalia.
