Signup open for 2016 Margin Protection Program

Dairy farmers can sign up for 2016 coverage in the Margin Protection Program beginning July 1^st.  Enrollment runs through September 30^th at the Farm Service Agency.  Participating farmers will remain in the program through 2018.

Producers have the option of choosing the level of coverage that best fits their operation.  USDA has an online calculator available to help producers determine the optimum coverage for their farm.  If selecting a higher level of coverage for 2016 producers can pay the full premium at the time of enrollment or a minimum of 25 percent by February 1^st.  The calculator is at www.fsa.usda.gov/mpptool

For those enrolled in the program this year, an operation’s historical production will increase by 2.61 percent in 2016.
