Dow records first sales of Enlist Duo herbicide
Dow AgroSciences is trumpeting the first sales of its Enlist Duo herbicide in the U.S.
Dow spokesman John Kalthoff says the herbicide’s combination of glyphosate and a new 2,4-D choline gives growers a new mode of action to incorporate into their postemergence weed control program.
“Many of them are dealing with very hard to control, glyphosate-resistant weeds, so they’ve been looking forward to another option,” Kalthoff says. “This really marks the beginning of that next tool that they can utilize.”
The sales of Enlist Duo herbicide are taking place in conjunction with Dow’s stewarded introduction of corn containing the Enlist herbicide-resistant trait. Kalthoff says participating growers will adhere to a thorough set of stewardship protocols and requirements.
“The Enlist corn stewarded introduction involves specially selecting farms who would meet stewarding requirements,” he says. “That includes the requirement for them to feed on farm to livestock that they on their farm, which is one of the key bits of the stewarded program. That’s in order to keep grain on their farm.”
Kalthoff says Enlist herbicide-resistant corn and soybeans will not be offered for sale until China approves the grain for import.
