Pasture to Plate Tour

This first week of May, in celebration of National Beef Month, the Michigan Beef Industry Commission teamed up with the Michigan Ag Council and others for a Pasture to Plate beef industry tour.

Executive Director George Quackenbush says they took dietitians and bloggers on a one day tour of a cow/calf farm, a beef feedlot and to the JBS packing plant in Plainwell.

“They get to see the entire process and then we are going to finish the tour with a visit to a restaurant, Webster’s Prime in Kalamazoo, that was our Beef Backer Award Winner a couple of years ago.”  He tells Brownfield, “They do a nice job there with a tasting plate where folks can sample prime beef, grass-fed beef, Wagyu beef, a variety of different production styles.”

He says the Michigan Beef Industry Commission is also sending registered dietitians on a three-day tour for the Beef Checkoff’s Nutrition Adventure as part of Beef Month.
