Nebraska corn planting at 57 percent

planting-spohn-friend 5-13Corn planting in Nebraska took a big step forward last week, with over 40 percent of the crop going in the ground.  That brings the state’s corn planted percentage to 57 percent compared to the five-year average of 38 percent. Nine percent of the corn had emerged.

Soybean planting reached 12 percent compared to nine average.

There was not much change in the condition of the winter wheat crop with 35 percent called good to excellent, 32 percent fair and 33 percent poor to very poor.

Pasture and range conditions rated 43 percent good to excellent and 39 percent fair.
