A big jump in planting progress

Warmer, drier weather pushed planting into full force last week.  According to the weekly crop and weather report, 21 percent of the corn crop is planted – an 18 percent jump from the week prior.  Just one percent of the crop is emerged.  Soybean planting is also underway with 4 percent of the crop planted.

Fifty-five percent of the winter wheat crop is jointed and 3 percent is headed with 62 percent rated good to excellent.  In other crops around the state – 77 percent of range and pasture land is rated good to excellent.

Ninety-fine percent of both Topsoil and Subsoil moisture are at adequate to surplus levels.
