Iowans will promote soybeans in China

China Map (3)Leaders of Iowa’s soybean industry will be joined by Iowa secretary of agriculture Bill Northey next week on a trade mission to China.

Grant Kimberley, director of market development for the Iowa Soybean Association, says the group will be meeting with some of the major livestock feeding companies in central and southern China.

“Feed mills who buy soybeans, soybean meal, corn, DDGS—so we’re going to learning more about that industry, what their needs are, what the demand potential is and encouraging them to continue to source from Iowa and United States as the most reliable and consistent supplier of soybeans to the world,” says Kimberley.

The Iowa delegation will also meet with COFCO, the largest oils and food importer and exporter in China and a leading food manufacturer.

Brownfield’s Ken Anderson will accompany the group on the trade mission and will provide reports for Brownfield listeners.
