Despite lower commodity prices in 2015, Jared Thomas, U.S. Seed Treatment Marketing Manager with Monsanto, says within the company brand they are noticing a shift to more of their premium seed treatment options.  One of these options is Acceleron, a treatment for corn, soybeans and cotton.  According to Thomas, Acceleron launched on their soybean platform in 2009 and for corn and cotton in 2010.  Thomas says in that time he’s not only seen their business grow quite a bit but also the industry change in terms of the overall treating percentages.

Thomas tells Brownfield the first 30 days after planting are key because of variable weather conditions.  Acceleron offers multiple modes of action to help protect against disease and insects.

Monsanto is also launching a new replant policy this year across their seed brand lineup which Thomas says protects 100% of the germ and trait with any of their premium options.

Thomas spoke to Brownfield at the 2015 Commodity Classic.
