Dairy class prices down on year
In USDA’s announcement of class and component prices for February, the class two price was $14.48 per hundredweight, down $1.70 from January and $9.25 lower than February 2014. Class three came out at $15.46, seventy two cents less than a month ago and $7.89 below a year ago. Class four was reported at $13.82, up fifty nine cents on the month, but down $9.64 on the year.
Also for February, butterfat was $1.8366 per pound and nonfat solids were $.8544 per pound, while the protein price was $2.4051 and other solids were pegged at $.3273 per pound.
