Good week for corn, soybean inspections

USDA reports corn and soybean export inspections for the week ending February 19 were more than what’s needed to meet USDA projections for the 2014/15 marketing year. Wheat, once again, fell short of its mark.

Wheat came out at 501,548 tons, up 97,216 from the week ending February 12 and 19,208 higher than the week ending February 20, 2014. For the 2014/15 marketing year to date, wheat inspections are 16,488,430 tons, compared to 23,324,013 in 2013/14.

Soybeans were pegged at 961,749 tons, down 374,829 from the previous week and 350,930 lower than this time last year. So far this marketing year, soybean inspections are 41,253,720 tons, compared to 35,898,375 a year ago.

Corn was reported at 900,965 tons, 176,065 above the week before and 96,477 more than last year. At this point in the marketing year, corn inspections are 17,293,125, compared to 16,955,914 a year ago.

Sorghum inspections totaled 268,562 tons. That’s a decrease of 3,405 tons on the week, but an increase of 262,905 on the year. 2014/15 sorghum inspections are 4,557,979 tons, compared to 1,567,863 in 2013/14.
