NCGA supports president’s call for TPA

The President of the National Corn Growers Association says the NCGA wants President Obama to have fast track trade authority.

As expected, Obama asked Congress for Trade Promotion Authority in his state of the union address last night, saying the U.S. needs it to speed up new trade deals in the Asia-Pacific and Europe.

NCGA president Chip Bowling said, ‘Modernized trade promotion authority would improve “our nation’s ability to advance trade agreements that open markets for U.S. farmers.”

Also addressing Obama’s steps toward increased trade with Cuba, Bowling said trade promotion authority along with normalized relations with Cuba, would benefit farmers and consumers – both in the U.S. and abroad.
