MIR 162 approval could be forthcoming

corn harvest 2010-2A spokesman for Syngenta tells Brownfield the company expects to receive Chinese approval of its Agrisure Viptera (MIR 162) corn trait “in the near future”.

Rumors of China’s pending approval have been circulating through the industry for several days. Some market analysts believe China has a new incentive to resume corn purchases from the U.S. because rival exporter Ukraine is reportedly struggling to honor grain contracts signed with China.

Syngenta says it will “make an announcement when we receive the official documentation, as is our standard practice”.
