An opportunity to build relationships

IMG_9176

A delegation of Taiwanese grain buyers have been in Indiana getting a first-hand look at agriculture.  Over the weekend they visited Indiana Corn Marketing Council President Dennis Maple’s farm in Greentown.  He says these visits benefit Indiana agriculture.  “It’s really important for them to see how good the crop is and how big the crop is going to be,” he says.  “They’re going to have a cheaper source of food this year because of that.  And it will make them pretty happy customers, I think.”

Hosting the trade delegation was a unique opportunity for Maple – as he took part in the Lt. Governor’s trade mission this past summer that visited Taiwan.  “I met with some of the same companies over there,” he says.  “It was nice for them to see our operations instead of theirs.”

Maple tells Brownfield this visit was also an opportunity to develop and build relationships with the end users of the commodities he produces.
