Ohio Pork Council forms Showpig committee

To expand interest in the swine industry, the Ohio Pork Council has formed a showpig committee.

Showpig committee chair, Marlene Eick of Prospect says while there are already a number of activities being held, the committee is looking for other ways to involve more junior exhibitors and showpig breeders. In fact, Marlene says they’re taking a page from the Ohio Cattlemen’s BEST program.

“The Ohio Pork Council is forming and developing a new summer show circuit, a point circuit that will occur in 2015 and that will be the main emphasis of the program as it gets going,” said Eick.

To help with implementing these programs, the Ohio Pork Council is in the process of hiring a part-time showpig program manager. Information on the position is available here. The deadline to apply is October 6.
