Little change in Ohio crop conditions

In its weekly crop and weather report, the Ohio field office of the National Ag Statistics Service reported little change in the crop condition ratings for corn and soybeans.

As of Sunday, August 24, 82 percent of the Ohio corn crop was in the dough stage, two points ahead of the 5-year average. 27 percent of the crop has dented, seven points behind average. 73 percent of the Ohio corn crop is in fair-to-good condition.

100 percent of the soybeans are blooming, 91 percent are setting pods, just one point behind the 5-year average. Two percent of the crop is dropping leaves. 79 percent of Ohio soybeans are in fair-to-good condition.

81 percent of the state’s pastures are in fair-to-good condition, a slight improvement from a week ago.

Topsoil moisture is 77 percent adequate to surplus.
