Corn, soybeans developing well

U.S. corn and soybean crops continue to develop a little faster than average.

As of Sunday, 90% of corn is silking, compared to 84% this time last year and the five year average of 88%, and 36% is at the dough making stage, compared to 17% a year ago and 29% on average. 73% of corn is rated good to excellent, down 2% on the week, but well above last year.

85% of soybeans are blooming, compared to 77% a year ago and 83% on average, with 57% at the pod setting stage, compared to 36% last year and 48% on average. 71% of soybeans are in good to excellent condition, unchanged from a week ago.

90% of the winter wheat crop is harvested, compared to 86% last year and 85% on average.

50% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are in good to excellent shape, 2% less than a week ago.
