Group opposes MO Right to Farm measure

An opposition group has formed in Missouri to fight the Right to Farm proposed constitutional amendment which goes before voters this summer.  ‘Missouri Food For America’ is headed by former Lieutenant Governor Joe Maxwell who is a hog farmer –AND- vice president of Outreach and Engagement for the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS).

Maxwell says the Right to Farm amendment wording and campaign are deceptive.  He says farmers are already protected by the Missouri Family Farm Act of 1975, “This amendment is about ensuring the largest multi-national corporation constitutional rights here in Missouri so they can do whatever THEY want to us neighbors out in the country.”  Maxwell says the amendment is actually intended to protect big corporate farms – like Smithfield – from regulations.

“What other industry has constitutional protections to do whatever they want and strips the local voice, either at the local level, the county level or even at the statehouse from being able to put in safeguards for neighbors out in the country?” Maxwell asks.

Supporters of the Right to Farm amendment say because of threats from activist groups like the Humane Society of the United States to restrict livestock production and farming practices, a constitutional amendment protecting ALL farmers is necessary.

  • Every war has a Benedict Arnold, Money, or promises not to eat Joe Maxwell until last by the RICO convicted gangsters of the HSUS. Is a pitiful example and a disrespectful position to take in lieu of the hard work and dedication of our farmers in Missouri dedicated to feeding the world.

Yes Please understand Opposition the the Right to Farm Bill, this is a direct attack on the poor the elderly and the minorities not only in Missouri but in America and beyond. If these people at PETA and the HSUS have their way food will become so expensive we will see starvation in the cities like St Louis and Kansas City where we have large poor minority populations. People who are already hungry in the world will be starved to death due to economic conditions, brought to you by people who oppose this Right to Farm,

The Bill should be named the “right to eat” act, as if it is defeated. It will simply empower these PETA and HSUS people to take food out of mouths of children and the elderly.

Please Vote yes… and ask your friends to do the same.

  • law so vague, it could interpreted anyway you want. I still think the family farm act does more then this one.
