But dairy is not alone, sales of carbonated soft drinks fell 3 percent last year and Beverage Digest says per capita consumption of carbonated soft drinks is the lowest it has been since 1986.

What are they drinking? Sales of energy drinks in the U.S. have increased 5,000 percent since 1999 hitting just under $9 billion in 2013. Monster and Red Bull hold 80 percent of the market.
