Livestock judging team pays it forward

Group Pic_webSeveral members of the Ohio State University livestock judging team traveled to Jamaica earlier this month, not to judge livestock, but rather to help build a swine farm.

“And we helped build an outdoor swine facility for some local folks there,” said OSU livestock judging team coach Kyle Culp. “So they can get involved in producing their own pork and also so they can sell some to their neighbors and other folks in their community.”

Kyle says the experience wasn’t only rewarding, it also provided judging team members a different perspective.

“None of them had ever really experienced a poverty level situation like we experienced working with those folks,” Culp said. “But it really provided just a new perspective for each one of them on what’s really good about where we live and how we can give back and help other folks.”
