Ohio Sen. has role in Farm Bill agreement

While the topic of his weekly conference call with reporters on Tuesday was the President’s State of Union address and his call for Congress to strengthen the middle class, Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown said when it comes to the Farm Bill agreement, he had plenty of input.

“I spoke with Senator Stabenow yesterday on the phone, yesterday in person as the Chair of this committee, I spoke with Chairman Lucas over the weekend, the Republican Chairman from Oklahoma, the two chairs of the Conference Committee, so much of this Farm Bill, Ohio plays a big role in this Farm Bill,” Brown said.”

And because of that input, Senator Brown says Ohio has much to gain from the final bill.

“It matters on jobs, it matters on rural development, I think the impact on nutrition is particularly important,” said the Senator. “I think the impact on some of the conservation programs absolutely matter for water quality in Ohio, all of these, I think this Farm Bill is really important for the state.”
