Another undercover video surfaces

The animal rights group Mercy for Animals has released a new undercover video that it says depicts cruelty at a Pipestone, Minnesota hog farm.

However, the company that manages the Rosewood Farm facility says practices depicted in the video — including killing piglets through “blunt force trauma” — are all within hog industry guidelines.

According to the Minneapolis Star-Tribune, the Rosewood Farm facility is owned by an affiliate of Randy Spronk, who is the current president of the National Pork Producers Council (NPPC).

NPPC released a statement calling the video “questionable”.  NPPC says that an independent veterinarian, who was taken by law enforcement to the facility shown in the video, determined that there were no signs of inhumane treatment or violations of good production standards. Therefore, according to NPPC, no charges were filed.
