U.S. corn, soybean condition ratings decline

USDA reports the national condition ratings for corn and soybeans declined slightly over the past week and the pace of development for both crops remains slower than average.

As of Sunday, 16% of the corn crop was silking, compared to 6% a week ago, 67% a year ago, and the five year average of 35%. 66% of corn is in good to excellent condition, down 2% on the week.

26% of soybeans are blooming, compared to 10% last week, 63% last year, and 40% on average. 65% of soybeans are called good to excellent, 2% lower than a week ago.

67% of the winter wheat crop is harvested, compared to 57% last week, 81% last year, and 71% on average.

71% of spring wheat has headed, compared to 45% a week ago, 93% a year ago, and 73% on average. 70% of spring wheat is rated good to excellent, 2% less than last week.

46% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are in good to excellent shape, 3% under a week ago.
