NASS suspends some reports

In addition to impacting other areas of the Federal Government and USDA, sequestration has led the National Agricultural Statistics Service to temporarily cancel several reports.

Among the suspended reports are the July cattle inventory numbers, June rice stocks, and all milk production reports, including Production, Disposition and Income.

According to a statement from NASS, the decision to suspend the reports was not made lightly but was necessary due to funding cuts.

Dow Jones Newswires reports the suspensions will save USDA approximately $6 million.
