Grassley expects fiscal RFS measure next year

Political pressure may come to bear on the Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS) and the EPA’s decision not to grant an RFS waiver on the corn-ethanol mandate, which has agriculture divided.

Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley expects a fiscal RFS measure in 2013.  Grassley tells reporters, “In the House of Representatives, I think you could expect a fiscal RFS issue to come up either as a separate bill or something dealing with energy sometime next year.”

Asked when opponents of the RFS will be appeased, Grassley answered, “When the price of corn gets down to 4-and-a-half.”

The EPA last week denied requests for a waiver sought by livestock and other groups.
