Dairy owner fires five after video

The owner of a large Idaho dairy reportedly has fired five employees seen in an undercover video abusing dairy cows. The animal rights activist group, Mercy for Animals, released the video saying it was taken at Dry Creek Dairy. The dairy, near Hansen, Idaho, is owned by Bettencourt Dairies, LLC. Boise State Public Radio reports the five former workers at the dairy face charges and the owner is cooperating with authorities in the investigation.

The Idaho Milk Processors Association issued a statement saying – “We support State Authorities in their enforcement of such violations and trust in their ability to keep our industry free of such acts.”

A statement from the United Dairymen of Idaho says “Dairy farmers in Idaho are as outraged by the video as the public.” Adding that the incident “does not reflect the animal care practices of the hundreds of hard working Idaho dairy farm families across our state who care for their animals every day.”
