Full agenda at American Sheep Industry Convention

Representatives of the American Sheep Industry are anticipating an upbeat convention when sheep producers gather in Scottsdale, Arizona January 25 through the 28. ASI executive director Peter Orwick says in addition to the 2012 Farm Bill a number of other topics will be discussed.

“We’ll hear from not only the ASI programs on wool, we’ll have the American Lamb Board with all the lamb promotion, research and nutrition information, and the National Lamb Feeders are also participating,” said Orwick. “We really build so you have representatives from every service, business and affiliation of the sheep industry in America at this convention.”

Another topic that will get plenty of attention will be the American Sheep Industry’s, 2 Plus 2 initiative. One portion of the initiative is to encourage young producers to get involved in the sheep industry and at the ASI Convention in Scottsdale the agenda includes a session designed specifically for Emerging Young Entrepreneurs.

“We have folks from the banking, lending, risk management, insurance industries all slotted to speak to the growers,” ASI Executive Director Orwick said.

Orwick tells Brownfield that they do have slots available for the Emerging Young Entrepreneur session, including assistance with travel and registration.

The complete American Sheep Industry Convention program is available online.
