China, U.S. beef talks to resume

China has agreed to resume talks with the U.S. on beef market access. Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack says technical talks will resume as soon as possible with the goal of re-opening China’s market to U.S. beef in early 2011.

The US Meat Export Federation says if the US regains access, 2011 beef exports would likely be in the range of 200-Million dollars and place China among the top 10 global markets for U.S. beef with “tremendous potential for future growth.”
