81% of corn, 30% of soybeans planted
Even with some weather related delays over the past week, U.S. corn and soybean planting continues to move at a fast pace.
USDA reports as of Sunday, 81% of the 2010 corn crop was planted, compared to 68% a week ago, 46% a year ago and the five year average of 62%. 39% of corn has emerged, compared to 13% last year and 21% on average.
Soybeans are 30% planted, compared to 15% a week ago, 13% a year ago and 19% on average. 7% of soybeans have emerged, compared to 3% last year and 4% on average.
67% of spring wheat is planted, compared to 34% a year ago and 66% on average, with 38% emerged, compared to 12% last year and 28% on average.
40% of the winter wheat crop has headed, compared to 38% a year ago and 43% on average. 66% of winter wheat’s in good to excellent condition, 2% less than a week ago but 20% more than a year ago.
Cotton is 34% planted, compared to 29% a year ago and the five year average of 34%.
36% of sorghum is planted, 7% ahead of a year ago and 5% above the average.
22% of peanuts have been planted, compared to 20% last year and 18% on average.
82% of rice is planted, compared to 68% a year ago and 75% on average. 67% has emerged, compared to 48% last year and the five year average of 55%. 11% of rice is in excellent condition, 47% is good, 37% is called fair and 5% is rated poor.
Oats are 86% planted, compared to 78% a year ago and 84% on average with 71% emerged, compared to 58% last year and 60% on average. 76% of oats are in good to excellent condition, 7% above last week and 31% more than last year.
61% of barley is planted, compared to 33% last year and the five year average of 63%, 28% has emerged, compared to 11% a year ago and 24% on average.
64% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are in good to excellent condition, up 1% from last week and 11% above last year.
