Lugar rejects climate change argument
Climate change proponents have been using the argument that if Congress doesn’t pass climate change legislation, the EPA has the authority to make it a regulatory rule and it will. Indiana Senator Richard Lugar, a member of the Senate Ag Committee which held a hearing last week on the climate bill, says that argument doesn’t hold water. “I believe I could get a majority of senators to repeal whatever is in the EPA Act to eliminate EPA out of this picture,” says Lugar.

Lugar says it’s an audacious idea that somehow lawmakers have to be “pressed” into backing climate change legislation. No action is expected on the bill until after the Labor Day recess.
I hope this legilation on climate change is voted down as it will tax our ag industry to no end. Cost now are skyrocketing and this will add fuel to the well funded ‘green’ movement. I farm and work with the climate every day and I don’t need taxes added to my electric bill because someone in government thinks coal is ‘dirty’. It’s also a crock to think this carbon credit available to farmers will offset the new taxes-maybe $1 back for every $10 of new taxes/regulations.
Thank you Senator Lugar for your comments! I am very concerned about Cap and Trade legislation. As proposed, this legislation doubles our electric bills, adds to the cost of liquid fuels, increases the cost of corn production by $80 an acre, devastastes manufacturing jobs in the Midwest and has minimal positive benefits to the environment. Can you believe the U.S. House of Representatives passed this bill? Where will the next generation of Americans find jobs if this legislation passes? I pray the U.S. Senate will do what’s right for America and I hope all Americans are contacting their U.S. Senators and asking them to vote No on Cap and Trade.
YES! THANK YOU Richard! Now if we can get some more common sense senators to not be afraid & speak up we can get somewhere.
