A low-pressure system crossing the mid-South will drift eastward, reaching the middle Atlantic Coast during the weekend.  Warm, humid conditions will precede the system, while cool, showery weather will prevail along and north of the storm’s track.

Building heat will accompany the dry weather, with weekend temperatures soaring to 100°F or higher across the southern High Plains.  By early next week, temperatures will rebound to near 90°F across the southern and eastern Corn Belt, while chilly weather will again become entrenched from the Pacific Northwest to the northern Plains.
