Temps, rainfall ahead to vary greatly across the Heartland

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of above-normal temperatures in the Mississippi Valley and across much of the northern U.S., while cooler-than-normal conditions will prevail along the Atlantic Seaboard and from southern California to the southern High Plains.

Meanwhile, near- or above normal rainfall across most of the country should contrast with drier-than-normal weather in western Washington and an area centered on the lower Great Lakes region, extending southward into Kentucky and Virginia.
