Summer-like warmth accompanies a showery weather pattern across the Heartland

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or above-normal temperatures nearly nationwide.  Cooler-than-normal conditions will be confined to southern California and the Desert Southwest.

Meanwhile, drier-than-normal weather should be limited to northern New England and the Far West, including large sections of the Pacific Coast States.
