Much colder on the move, more unsettled weather ahead next week across the Nation

On Friday, snow will fall across northern New England.  Meanwhile, locally severe thunderstorms will continue to sweep across the South and lower Midwest Thursday, before weakening and exiting the Atlantic Coast on Friday.

Tranquil weather will prevail across much of the U.S. during the holiday weekend, but unsettled conditions will return to several regions early next week.  Notably, stormy weather will begin to engulf the western U.S., starting in the northern Rockies and Northwest.

A surge of cold air will accompany the Northwestern storminess, while chilly weather will also return across the northern Plains.
