Colder, more seasonal temps ahead for the Heartland; moisture returns to West & Plains

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or below-normal temperatures across much of the country, while warmer-than-normal weather will be confined to the upper Midwest and an area stretching from the Pacific Coast to the Great Basin and Intermountain West.

Meanwhile, near- or above-normal precipitation in many areas of the U.S. should contrast with drier-than-normal conditions from the mid-South and lower Midwest into the Northeast.  Areas from California to Florida will have the greatest likelihood of experiencing wet weather.
