More hot, drier-than-normal, ahead for much of the Heartland

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of hotter-than-normal conditions nationwide, except for near- or below-normal temperatures from the Desert Southwest into the Rio Grande Valley.

Meanwhile, below-normal rainfall across much of the Plains and Midwest, along with near-normal precipitation in the East, should contrast with wetter-than-normal weather in West and portions of the south-central U.S., including central and southern Texas.
