More high heat and humidity for much of the Heartland by early next week

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for near- or below-normal temperatures west of the Rockies, while hotter-than-normal conditions will prevail in the central and eastern U.S.

Meanwhile, near- or below-normal rainfall from the Plains to the Atlantic Coast should contrast with wetter-than-normal weather across interior sections of the West.
