An mild to unseasonably warm pattern ahead; showery on parts of the Plains

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or above-normal temperatures in the central and eastern U.S., except for cooler-than-normal conditions in the mid-Atlantic.  Cool weather will also cover the Far West.

Meanwhile, near- or above-normal precipitation across most of the country should contrast with drier-than-normal weather in the Southwest and from the mid-South into the Northeast.
