Late-season warmth, heat ahead for the Heartland; showers up North

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of above-normal temperatures from the Rockies to the East Coast, while cooler-than-normal conditions will be confined to the Great Basin and the Pacific Coast States.

Meanwhile, below-normal rainfall from southern sections of the Rockies and Plains northeastward into the Ohio Valley and mid-Atlantic States should contrast with wetter-than-normal weather along and northwest of a line from Nevada to Wisconsin.
