Heat wave conditions to continue, centered on much of the Plains, southern states

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for above-normal temperatures nationwide.  The greatest likelihood of extreme heat will stretch from the central and southern Plains into the Southeast.

Meanwhile, near- or below-normal rainfall across most of the country should contrast with wetter-than-normal weather in parts of the Southwest and from the lower Great Lakes region into the Northeast.
